Slow cooker – Butter Chicken

Ingredients

  • 500g chicken thigh - boneless - cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 onion - chopped

For the marinating

  • 150g plain yogurt
  • 1 tsp ginger paste
  • 1/2 tbsp garlic paste
  • 1 tbsp paprika powder

For the seasoning

  • 1 or 2 bay leaf
  • 5 cloves garlic - chopped
  • 25g fresh ginger - chopped
  • 1 canned tomato - 400g
  • 1 tsp cumin powder
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • 1 tsp sea salt
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp paprika powder
  • 1/2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 chicken stock cube
  • 40g butter

For the garnish

  • 2 tbsp heavy cream

  • Chili to taste

Instructions

  • 1. In a medium bowl, add chicken and all the marinating ingredients. Marinate the chicken for about 1 to 2 hours in the refrigerator.
  • 2. Add the marinated chicken and all the seasoning ingredients in the slow cooker pot. And cook it on high for 4 hours.
  • 3. Uncover and add heavy cream to mix.
  • 4. Serve hot with steamed rice or some naans.
