Beef on rice – Gyudon

Beef on rice (Gyudon)

Beef on rice (Gyudon)

Ingredients

  • 750g beef - cut into slices or strips
  • 600ml water
  • 2 onions - cut into slices
  • 2 tbsp hondashi powder
  • 1 tsp ginger powder or 1 tbsp fresh ginger - grated

- Ingredient A -

  • 5 1/2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 3 tbsp white cooking wine or cooking sake
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp white sugar
  • 3 tbsp mirin

Instructions

  • 1. In a cooking pot add water, onion, hondashi powder and ginger powder, and start cooking over medium high heat.
  • 2. Once it started to a boil, add the beef and the ingredients A, bring it to boil. Reduce the heat to low and simmer for about 20min.
  • Serve the beef over steamed rice!
